Interview: John Romita Jr.
John Romita Jr. (The Eternals, Amazing Spider-Man, Wolverine) has drawn so many Marvel characters, I’m not even going to bother to list them. Okay, fine. Quit being such a bully!!!… Anyways, on to the Outhouse’s interview with Mr. Romita Jr.:
The Outhouse: How are things going on The Eternals?
John Romita Jr.: Right now I’m a third through. Also, due to how things are turning out, there’s going to be a seventh issue.
The Outhouse: When this project came up, did you go to Neil Gaiman and/ or Joe Quesada about doing it or did they come to you?
John Romita Jr.: Well, Joe and Neil discussed The Eternals and my name came up. They thought that the style and scope of my art would be perfect for it.
The Outhouse: You’ve drawn a lot of Marvel characters. Is there any characters that you haven’t drawn yet but want to?
John Romita Jr.: Monthly, Captain America and Fantastic Four. Jeph Loeb and I might do Captain America later on when I’m done with what I currently am doing.
The Outhouse: Speaking of current projects that aren’t The Eternals, how is World War Hulk coming along?
John Romita Jr.: I haven’t begun it yet. I have Punisher lined up first and then World War Hulk in the summer.
The Outhouse: Punisher? Are you going to be doing a new title, the current MAX Punisher with Garth Ennis, or do Punisher War Journal after the Civil War stuff is done?
John Romita Jr.: Don’t quite know. I have it next to me and it says “Punisher War Zone” and I know I’m doing it with Ennis.
The Outhouse: Is there any plans to do anything for DC?
John Romita Jr.: Right now I have a five year contract with Marvel but who knows after that.
The Outhouse: Is there any plans for you to go to San Diego Comic-Con?
John Romita Jr.: Don’t know at the moment.
The Outhouse: Is there any particular writers you want to work with that you haven’t done so?
John Romita Jr.: No one in particular. I think Ennis, Gaiman, and Greg Pak will be keeping me busy for awhile.
Stay tuned Wednesday as the second part of the Outhouse’s interview with John Romita will be posted.
