In the land of Sight and Sound music has slowly been disappearing. Country, Rock, Pop…it’s all been going silent. Kill Audio is about to uncover the conspiracy that reveals all, but will he do it before his friends are taken down by the villain that is creating all this chaos?

Review:

Chaos and betrayal reign supreme in the bizarre land of Sight and Sound.  Kill Audio and his entourage get one step closer to solving the mystery of the missing music, and it turns out the answer is a lot closer to home than they would have liked.

Story:

Tearing down that which you have built must be an interesting part of the creative process.  It's the crossroads that Claudio Sanchez and Chondra Echert arrive at with KILL AUDIO #5.  Everything is threatened, and it's tough to see how this universe will survive the trouble brewed up by the creators.  What's truly remarkable about this series is just how invested the reader has become in the world.  A story this surreal could have trouble hooking people into exactly what's being put together, but with KILL AUDIO, you can't help but care for the little guy, and feel for him as he goes through this hellish design not of his own making.

Art:

Sheldon Vella, if nothing else, shows just how in tune he is with his writers.  Vella's work parallels the writing in that he has to illustrate the breaking down of the world he designed.  He truly brings to visual life what Sanchez and Echert have written, to the point where the work looks like it was created by a writer/artist, rather than a full creative team.    When this series wraps up with issue #6, the successfull marriage of story and art may be its greatest accomplishment.  Boom! Studios found the right artist for this story.

Final Thoughts:

KILL AUDIO has brought a unique new creative vision into the realm of comic books, and for that, the readership is eternally better off.  The impending final issue brings up mixed feelings, as the end will be unfortunate, but you can't help but look forward to the big time ending that's coming up.
