I figure instead of posting a picture of the writer, I am going to post a cover of a comic they've written. So, if you have suggestions for certain covers you would like to see beside some of your writers let me know.

I'll try to submit a list when I find the time. I'm sure mine will be quite different from most.

What is the One Point Club?

When I first did this, some characters only received 1 vote in the 10th slot, giving them a total of one point.

So I created a special section before we got to the Top 10 called the One Point Club. People started using it as a challenge to try to get a character or whatnot into the one point club lol

If I could find links to my old threads (Top X-character, Top Marvel Hero, Top DC Hero, Top Marvel Villain, Top DC Villain, Top Modern Character (a character created after 1989), Top Comicbook Teen, and finally Top Comicbook Runs) you can check them out. They were pretty massive. I received over 200 lists for some.

It was nuts

And there was drama because some characters didn't get high..

Why not a bit of both? This might be the one chance for some of these people to ever get their face posted at the Outhouse.

I guess I'll go ahead and be the first to put mine out there. here's my actual list (unless I change my mind in the next month):

1. J.M. DeMatteis
2. Mark Waid
3. Stan Lee
4. Wolfman/Perez
5. Kurt Busiek
6. Frank Miller
7. Roger Stern
8. Ed Brubaker
9. PAD
10. Mike W. Barr (looking for an OPC opportunity here, but he is one of my all-time faves)

Mine:

1. Neil Gaiman
2. Grant Morrison
3. Mark Waid
4. Alan Moore
5. Bill Willingham
6. Matt Fraction
7. Warren Ellis
8. JM DeMatteis
9. Scott Snyder
10. Greg Rucka

I realise that this kind of skews new, and that there aren't that many classic names on the list. Weird, really, as I do love some of the classic guys - I just think these are the best actual writers out there.

6.5 of these made my extremely short list.
2.5 of these will likely make the final cut.

Nieto has 3 on my short list and 1 that should make it.

You make a distinction between Wolfman and Wolfman/Perez but put Lee all alone? :smt017

absolutely. first, I don't particularly buy into all the revisionist history that seems to exist now that "Stan was a hack who stole from Jack and Steve and he sucked on his own" that seems to permeate the intranetz. one main reason for that is that the run that may be my favorite of Stan's was his post-Ditko work on Spidey, and I've never heard anybody claim Jazzy Johnny did anything but draw on that. another is that outside of Spidey and FF, Stan still did SO MUCH other great stuff back then, the sheer breadth of ideas, books, etc earns him a spot. I love Stan not so much for one individual piece of polished technical writing skill (good luck even finding one), I love him and credit him for being the grand poobah.

Wolfman, on the other hand, wrote a lot of good stuff in his career, but out of his entire bibliography, he only wrote 2 things that earn him a top 10 nod (the first 4 years or so of NTT/New Titans, and COIE), and both of those were co-plotted/collaborated by Perez. their collaborative process is well-documented and legendary, and that collaboration is what gets my nod.
