I saw a bunch of commercials for Star Ocean last night.

One thing that kinda turned me off in the review I read was that since the game spans 3 discs, if you want to ever go back and do some exploring or whatever, you have to change discs.

Everything cool so far.
But the office is almost empty right now.

So I downloaded a MUGEN pack last night. For those not in the know, MUGEN is a set of tools that allows you to make your own sprite-based 2d fighting game based on the rules of games like Street Fighter, the Capcom vs series, SNK titles, and even Guilty Gears.

You can make the whole thing from scratch which is time consuming or you can download custom packs. the one I got was SNK vs Capcom Ultimate MUGEN 2007 (ver3). It's awesome. There's like over 200 characters plus different game versions of characters (like Capcom vs SNK Ryu and SNK vs Capcom Ryu). Also you can get the "Evil" versions of Ken and Ryu in addition to Shin Akuma, who is ridiculously powerful. It's great stuff.

Been using MUGEN for at least 8 years. Maybe more.
You can mod EVERYTHING, and there are some really cool original characters out there.

Yeah there are some crazy ones out there. This one is really well done, like it could be sold as an actual game. The funny thing is how much higher resolution/quality the Guilty Gear sprites are than everyone else.

And speaking of high quality sprites, I watched some videos for King of the Fighters XII last night and holy shit that is hands-down the absolute best 2d sprite animation I've ever seen in a game. It looks incredible.

PM where to get it and one of these days I'll show you what craziness I can do doing stuff from scratch one day.
