A Call for Barbara Gordon Appreciation Day

With Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain fans publicly expressing their support of their favorite characters, it's time for Barbara Gordon fans to get in gear and do the same.

Fans of former Batgirls Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain have been making their displeasure of the exile to oblivion of their favorite characters for over a year now. Things came to a head recently with the now-infamous “Waffles for Stephanie” campaign, where Stephanie Brown fans (all ten or so of them) mailed waffles to the offices of DC Comics.

Now, Cassandra Cain fans are planning to make their voice heard through a more logical protest by her fans on Aug. 31, where they will buy issues if her now-canceled series on Comixology.

Meanwhile, Barbara Gordon doesn’t seem to be getting much love. The character, who made her first appearance in Detective Comics #359 (dated Jan. 1967) is whom most of the world thinks of when they think of Bargirl. Since she has been met with controversy since her return under the cowl, as Stephanie and Cass fans showed their displeasure by their constant protest.

Babs deserves better than this. She may not be the original Batgril (that would be Betty Kane, who pretty much nobody cares about), but she’s the one who made Batgirl into something more than a sidekick or a clone of Bruce Wayne with boobs. It’s time Babs has her own day. A day for her fans to celebrate and reflect on her greatness.

The most obvious date for this? Sept 14. That is the day in 1967 when Batgirl made her first appearance in the Batman TV series, played famously by Yvonne Craig. This is the perfect time to show DC comics that Babs’ fans are behind her, and will not allow her cowl to be seized again by underage pretenders, and to give their fans over the age of thirty a stern reminder who the one, true, Batgirl is.

How to celebrate Babs’ appreciation day?

Volunteer at a local public library.

Help out parapalegic kids or adults.

Buy every Barbara Gordon Batgirl item you can find at your local LCS.

Use a #TeamBabs hashtag on Twitter

Send cranberry banana muffins to the DC offices. (Like the ones her mom made her in issue 6)

Send letters of appreciation to Dan Didio for making Babs Batgirl again. But don't write those letters on a death certificate.

Public burnings of Batman: The Killing Joke.

Red wigs. Lots of them.

Cook Gail Simone a simple meal, but not want to cut into her, to tear the flesh, to wear the flesh, to be born unto new worlds where her flesh becomes my key.

Barbara Gordon fans, get ready. Make DC rue the day they let Alan Moore take our heroine out of the she-cowl. Sept 14 is Babs’ day, and ours.

Just by changing a few of the commas I think I've discovered the hidden meaning in this thread.

I want to undiscover it....

That's actually for the progress of handicapped porn 'actors/actresses' in the work field.

This can't possibly be a Nacireman thread. It's actually funny.

pretty sure that unless Stephanie was a child prodigy, by the time she was Batgirl (during her first and second year of college) she was over 18
