The Muppets

Postby Nightfly » Sat Sep 08, 2012 3:38 pm

Finally caught this on cable. I loved it even more than I expected to. Segel did an awesome job of taking me back to my childhood and reuniting me with my old friends. If you still haven't seen this flick, I highly recommend you do. The cameos were great and the songs were really fun too. Chris Cooper's song was especially funny. [maniacal laugh] Definitely my favorite Muppet movie since the first one.

P.S. My other favorite muppet movie is The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland. Elmo's a Sesame Street character - not from the ol' Muppet Show - but the songs via Patinkin and Vanessa Williams are really strong in it.

I'll be honest... I never really got into or watched the show (I didn't have the channel)... but...

Turner EMEA snaps up Henson’s Doozers for Cartoonito

Coinciding with 30th anniversary of Fraggle Rock in 2013, The Jim Henson Company has created a new 52 x 11-minute spin-off series that puts the the classic’s diminutive laborers into the spotlight. And Turner EMEA, for one, likes the new direction. The broadcaster has snapped up Doozers for its expanding pan-Euro preschool channel Cartoonito’s fall 2013 schedule.

Co-produced with Canada’s DHX Media, the new series stars Spike, Mollybolt, Flex and Daisy Wheel. The four kid Doozers live in Doozer Creek, a self-sustainable community (located just beyond the view of humans). The action really takes place in a high-tech, eco-friendly enchanted forest, where the Doozer pals share a passion for inventing.

‘Million Muppet March’ Planned In DC To Protect Federal Funding For PBS

Mitt Romney’s now infamous pledge to eliminate federal funding for PBS despite his affection for Big Bird and Jim Lehrer is getting still more pushback. Today a Los Angeles animation exec and an Idaho student are planning a ‘Million Muppet March’ for November 3rd at the National Mall in Washington DC three days before the election. Reuters reports Animax’s Michael Bellavia and student Chris Mecham came up with the idea separately during the October 3rd debate. Bellavia bought the Internet address www.millionmuppetmarch.com and discovered Mecham already had the Facebook page. The two fans of Sesame Street connected before the debate was over and started planning.

Oh I guess I have to get this book...

Jim Henson's Creative Process Gets Illustrated

Over two decades after he passed away, Jim Henson continues to capture the imagination of the world through his creations, from The Muppets, to the Fraggles, and beyond. Now, you can view his imagination in a whole new way with Chronicle Books "Imagination Illustrated: The Jim Henson Journal."

The 192 page coffee table book, taken from The Jim Henson Company archives, is a reproduction of Henson's actual diary. That includes his drawings, notes, and more - and gives you a unique insight into Henson's creative process.

Ty Burrell Joins Disney's The Muppets Sequel

Although Christoph Waltz was said to be up for the role back in October, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that "Modern Family" star Ty Burrell will now take his place in Walt Disney Pictures' still-untitled sequel to 2011's The Muppets. Burrell will play the part of an Interpol agent.
