Do you already have your artist planned out ahead of time and get there insanely early? Do you set them up before the show?
Thanks for providing a direct link to your gallery. Your images only show up for me half of the time.
Thank you! That's the main reason I go too. Meeting creators and talking to them about their work is a lot of fun. It's actually pretty easy to get commissions done. I do a mix of both, but either way, I do research ahead of time. I'll take the artist alley list, plug their names into comicartfans.com, see what I like, and narrow the list down to a few names. I'll contact the artists I want the most ahead of time (this time it was Hardman and Rooth) to make sure I get on their lists (they can fill up quickly). They had the pieces ready for me by the time I got there on Saturday. Then I had Norton and Govar do theirs in my sketchbook over the weekend. I got the guys I wanted the most, so I was pretty happy. The only thing I missed was Phil Jimenez, who does really nice, detailed head sketches for free. His line was too long and didn't have a chance to get to me. But with what I got, I can't complain.
