Andy Serkis to direct an Animal Farm movie.
Source: Andy Serkis to Direct Adaptation of 'Animal Farm' Andy Serkis, well known as the performer who brought the movements for characters such as Gollum (Lord of the Rings), King Kong (King Kong), and Caesar (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) to life, will be directing a new Animal Farm (aka. Animal Farm A Fairy Story) movie. Serkis will be bringing the film to market via the company he co-formed, The Imaginarium. Serkis does have a bit of directorial experience. He was chosen by Peter Jackson as a second unit director on the upcoming The Hobbit film.
Serkis says he has found a fresh way of telling the classic story, having it be more of a fable and family friendly, rather than heavy on the political side. They will definitely be using motion capture (the process used to create the characters Serkis played as previously mentioned) in the film, but will also employ other filming styles as well. They are currently in the design phase of the film.
The Imaginarium also has the rights to do a film based on the upcoming science-fiction book "The Bone Season" by Samantha Shannon.
