Not sure if I'm going to get this either tomorrow or next week. Kind of a little hesitant to grab it because I have a feeling that it might be too weird for my liking.

Grabbed a copy earlier and it was trippy as hell....in a good way. Review to come by Monday. Just have to process the surreal jumble that is Zaucer of Zilk.

When I looked at the preview pages for this comic, I wasn't sure to expect. It was wild and zany, but I feared that it might not be a coherent and enjoyable. Thankfully, Al Ewing and Brendan McCarthy delivered the goods. The writing is flat-out bizarre, yet Ewing and McCarthy make it work. It's like reading Dr. Seuss on acid. McCarthy's art compliments the strange story with appropriately quirky art that is trumped by inspired world design. The Zaucer of Zilk #1 isn't for everyone, but those with an open mind are likely to get a kick out of it.

Best semi-omniscient narration I've read in ages. And yes, it's like a Sid 'n' Marty Krofft show on paper, even right down to the delinquent Brit juvie transported to a magical land of slightly seedy surrealism.



And we're the cloud-drifting teeth in the story!

It's smart and absurdly colorful and wildly imaginative, all the best that comics can and should be as opposed to the visually and metaphorically dreary stuff that's dominated the discussions here lately.
