Holy F*ck, Ryan Meinerding Creates Best Variant Ever!

Well, "best" might be an exaggeration, but it is pretty flipping great!

Source: COMICS: Ryan Meinerding Creates Incredible Variant Cover For CAPTAIN AMERICA #1

The good thing about Marvel NOW, besides all the great comics that will come out (there, I said it, can we get free preview copies now?), are all the cool variant covers.

Marvel Studios concept artist, Ryan Meinerding, provides a stunning variant cover for Rick Remender and John Romita Jr.'s Captain America #1 due out in stores In November.

If AvX taught us anything, it's that fanboys like to imagine being on their knees, longingly gazing up at Cap's crotch IMO.

Leather straps, knee-pads, an "up the crotch" shot...this is quite similar to a lot of Harlequin Romance paperback covers, to be honest. Make him into a pirate, put some Fabio hair on him, maybe.

Comics covers used to be intelligently-designed to convey more information to someone scanning them casually than just this sort of hyper-realistic pin-up fetishism, or "Hollywoodisation" as some have called it.

He'd better hope Cap's an Alabama fan then. They actually teabag unconscious people.
