Matthew Vaughan will NOT direct the newest X-Men movie, according to a report by the Hollywood Reporter.  Vaughan, who helped to write the treatment for the film, will stay on as a producer.  According to the report, Fox is looking at bringing in Bryan Singer, the director fo the original two X-Men films and helped produce X-Men: First Class, to replace Vaughan.

The new movie will incorporate the popular "Days of Future Past" storyline and even is named for the comic arc.  The entire cast of X-Men: First Class is set to return for the sequel.

This is not the first sequel Vaughan's chosen to step away from.  He also passed on the sequel to Kick-Ass, passing the director role onto Jeff Wadlow.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Vaughan is instead looking at directing an adaptation of Secret Service, a comic miniseries written by Mark Millar.  Interestingly, Millar was just hired by Fox to oversee their Marvel movies and had recently spoken about X-Men: First Class - Days of Future Past in several interviews.

If the replacement is singer then it is a wash.

I'm lukewarm on Singer at the best of times but I really don't want to see another Singer X-Men movie.
