Disney to Make Full Star Wars Sequel Trilogy

At the Disney Stockholders conference call, Disney elaborated on their Star Wars plans.

Adding to the huge news just released the The Walt Disney Company has acquired Lucasfilm Ltd for $4 Billion, the company has just announced that it will be making an entire sequel trilogy. The first press release from the company promised a Star Wars: Episode 7 in 2015, but, at the call, Disney said that episodes 8 and 9 will soon follow. George Lucas will serve as creative consultant on the project. Kathleen Kennedy will be executive producer. The movies are planned to come out every 2-3 years.

In addition to Star Wars: Episode 7, Disney also plans to release Avengers 2 in 2015.

I don't mind more star wars (not immediately dismissing it)...

... but if they can get Lucasfilm, can't they pay the pittance they would for ROM?! :smt013

Don't know if I trust Disney but I know I sure as hell didn't trust Lucas to do them.

It's not like Lucas won't be still involved. Plus, in addition to the rights part of the deal was for a full and extensive treatment for the next 3 movies.
