Star Wars: The Clone Wars Could Be Leaving Cartoon Network Next Year

According to sources, the show's licensing agreement with the network expires at the end of this season.

Source: Hollywood Reporter

Remember when we said that the popular Star Wars: The Clone Wars show might be moving from Cartoon Network to Disney XD?  That move might be happening sooner as opposed to later.  According to a report by the Hollywood Reporter, the show's licensing agreement is on a one year term and will expire next spring.

Representatives from both companies have said that they'll make a decision on the show at the end of the season.  While nothing's official, there's no reason for Disney not to move the show over to Disney XD, where CEO Bob Iger said Star Wars programming would be able to thrive. Iger has already stated his desire to establish a Star Wars programming block similar to its hour long Marvel block. Even if the show does move, Cartoon Network will maintain the rights to run old episodes of The Clone Wars, at least for a little while.

So Clone Wars fans, do you think moving the show would be a good thing or a bad move?  Leave your comments below!

Maybe CN will start going out of their way not to piss off the WB fans, it's pretty much all they've got left sans Man of Action.

If they do that, where will the Evil Overlord fun come from running this network??

Oh, and by the way: Dark Horse's Star Wars license is NEXT!!

*Vader's theme plays, as Disney continues to take back Star Wars material from non-Disney companies*

I thought Ninjago was popular? Also Adventure Time and Regular Show?

Anyways, I'm not thrilled if CW goes to XD since I don't get XD...

Yeah they have that, but CW is one of their top ratings busters. They loose that, they're going to take a hit.

They should end it anyway. The shows lasted longer than the actual wars did.

Wow, you actually used a coherent sentence. I would be even more amazed if you knew what malfunction meant. :-D :-D :-D
On a serious note, I tried watching the show but it felt like a soap opera in animation form so I passed over it.

Agreed. I liked the movies but I couldn't get into the cartoons for some reason.
