Despite being blown up with the entire planet of Alderaan in Star Wars: Episode 4, Jimmy Smits is willing to reprise his role as Princess Leia's adoptive father Bail Organa in Episode 7.
Source: Spinoff In an interview with CBR's Spinoff, actor Jimmy Smits expressed interest in reprising his role as Bail Organa in Disney's upcoming Star Wars: Episode 7. Smits last appeared in Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith, but in the original Star Wars movie, Episode 4: A New Hope, Organa was presumably killed with the Death Star obliterated the planet Alderaan. Undeterred, Smits told Spinoff, "my character was gone after episode whatever. If they want to call, let them call."
Of course, Smits statement could have absolutely no meaning in the grand scheme of things. Or, it could be that Disney intends to completely screw with Star Wars continuity, sending internet fanboys into fits of nerd-rage not seen since the Hostess Bakery filed for bankruptcy, endangering the community's future supply of Twinkies and Ho-Hos. Here at The Outhouse, we choose to believe the latter, as it would be more entertaining to write about.
No word yet on whether Sir Alec Guinness woudl be willing to reprise his role as Obi Wan "Ben" Kenobi in future episodes, but if being deceased in the Star Wars universe isn't going to stop characters from appearing, we don't see why it would stop being deceased in real life should either.
