Axel Alonso Heaps Awkward Praise on Bendis and Bachalo's Uncanny X-Men

In the press release for Uncanny X-Men #1, Marvel Editor in Chief Axel Alonso was full of groan-worthy praise for the book!

Source: Press Release

Marvel's Editor in Chief position may be a busy job, but Axel Alonso can somehow still find time to engage in terrible word-smithery for "The Great One" Brian Bendis' new Marvel NOW! Uncanny X-Men book. In the press release for the book, Alonso had the following to say:

“What Brian and Chris have planned for Cyclops’ team in the post-'Avengers VS. X-Men' landscape is nothing short of its adjective, 'uncanny.' Mutantkind has been going through a reEvolution over the past couple years. The pressing question now is, who will lead them into the future?"

Pure gold like that takes a lot of hard work. The Outhouse dug through Marvel's trash bins like DC Comics looking for old Alan Moore stories to find the Axel Alonso statements that didn't make the cut. Here they are:

Brian Bendis' Uncanny X-Men will be totally X-cellent!

Chris Bachalo really X-cels at drawing Uncanny X-Men!

It's an X-traordinary time to be an X-Men fan!

Brian Bendis must watch a lot of trannie porn, because he is an X-pert on X-men!

It's uncanny! This comic has mutated into something so much better than X-pected!

We're hoping that a new number 1 issue will bring back a lot of lapsed X-readers!

I'm no X-pert, but if you ask me, this is some of the finest art I've ever seen!

Here at the Marvel offices, we're downright X-hausted after the constant X-citement about Uncanny X-Men #1!

In any case, check out the press release and cover below, and get ready for a load Uncanny X-crement in Uncanny X-Men #1 in February!

The Future of UNCANNY X-MEN Is Marvel NOW!

Superstars Brian Michael Bendis and Chris Bachalo Redefine Mutantkind!

New York. NY—November 9, 2012— This February, Cyclops is back in full force in Uncanny X-Men #1, kicking off the all-new ongoing series from the blockbuster creative team of writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Chris Bachalo! As part of Marvel NOW!, Uncanny X-Men joins a number of titles that will take the Marvel Universe in an exciting all-new direction, as the industry’s top creators join the top Super Heroes to deliver all-new ongoing series, great for new and lapsed readers alike!

The true flagship book of the X-Men returns. In the wake of the Phoenix, the world has changed and is torn on exactly what Cyclops and his team of X-Men are – visionary revolutionaries or dangerous terrorists? Whatever the truth, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Magneto, and Magik are out in the world gathering up new mutants and redefining the name Uncanny X-Men.

“What Brian and Chris have planned for Cyclops’ team in the post-'Avengers VS. X-Men' landscape is nothing short of its adjective, 'uncanny'," said Axel Alonso, Editor In Chief, Marvel Entertainment. "Mutantkind has been going through a reEvolution over the past couple years. The pressing question now is, who will lead them into the future?"

Marvel NOW! is the culmination of Marvel ReEvolution, the groundbreaking new initiative to evolve the comic book experience through innovation. With Fearless Defenders, Marvel NOW! ensures fans will discover an entirely new perspective in the adventures of the Defenders.

“Uncanny X-Men will be the one-stop shop for these very important characters in the mutant [corner of the] Marvel Universe and the Marvel Universe proper,” said writer Brian Michael Bendis in an interview with Marvel.com. “I'm very lucky that I get to write All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men at the same time. I can examine this fascinating part of the Marvel Universe from vastly different angles. I can't think of a time where the mutant part of the Marvel Universe has been more exciting. Every character is so complex and there are so many characters interacting. Literally anything could happen.”

Each issue of Uncanny X-Men includes a code for a free digital copy on the Marvel Comics app (for iPhone®, iPad®, iPad Touch® & Android devices). Additionally, each issue of Uncanny X-Men features special augmented reality content available exclusive through the Marvel AR app – including cover recaps, behind the scenes features and more that add value to your reading experience at no additional cost.

“Not only does every book with the Marvel NOW! logo feature a new superstar creative team and blockbuster story, but they also come with all-new incentives for our retailer partners,” explained David Gabriel, Senior Vice-President of Sales, Marvel Entertainment.. “We want to make sure every comic shop nationwide is fully stocked to meet the high demand we’re already seeing for Marvel NOW! And want to make sure their voices are heard throughout this exciting time. Stay tuned for more news on how Marvel will be working directly with retailers to make sure our programs address their needs.”

An all-new direction! An all-new team! All-new threats! This is Uncanny X-Men NOW!

This February, Brian Michael Bendis and Chris Bachalo redefine what it means to be a mutant in Uncanny X-Men!

You know, the more that I hear about this series the more confident I am that I don't want to read it. Now Bleeding Cool is even reporting that Bendis has confirmed that he is ending the Scott Summers/Emma Frost relationship. Marvel Now, much like the DCnU, is simply not for me. :-(

why wouldn't they end the relationship... i mean its not like she went behind his back numerous times, hid the fact that she mindwiped Sebastian Shaw. not like she planted the seeds in Namor's mind to go destroy Wakanda. Not like he didn't choke her out to gain her portion of the Phoenix Force. But i guess those things are all a part of a "healthy" relationship... Scott and Emma have been on rocky ground since she brought Namor into the fold.

I really hope this book continues Scott's story down the path it's currently on. I don't need to see a redemption arc or any crap like that.

I want an Uncanny Brotherhood of Mutants book. That's something I would read.

Is the person who's designed all the god awful logos for Marvel the same culprit who did DC's new ones? Talk about trying to make a comic not look like a comic.

I understand the reasons for the break up but I don't like the stories that were told that led up to it and created the necessity for it. Some of my favorite X-Men stories of the past 10 years have been that seemed to help strengthen their relationship. I loved the fact that Emma continued to be Emma except for whenever she was alone with Scott and we finally got to see the real heart of the character. It's a shame that Bendis is bringing it to an end and I am factoring it into my decision to not read it.

not really that's just the well bachalo goes back to.. when he came on X-Men with Carey, Rogue immediately wore the AoA Costume, Lady Mastermind wore a purple version of the 10th Anniversary AoA Dazzler costume...

Ah. Thought it tied into Bendis saying Apocalypse would play a major role in Uncanny Avengers.

Bendis isn't writing Uncanny Avengers. Remender is. He said they would face villains from all around the MU, from Apocalypse to Red Skull.
