Monster Analysis of Diamond October Sales Numbers

Frankenstein: Former Agent of S.H.A.D.E. takes an unbiased look at Diamond's sales stats for October, 2012!

Source: Diamond

For many months since launch of Nu52, DC Comics beat Marvel in monthly sales battles, slowly choking life out of House of Ideas like monster hands around neck of innocent child. Last month, DC announce cancelation of Frank's book, Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E. This month, Marvel easily beats DC in sales. Coincidence? Frank think not. Is sweet, sweet vengeance.

In retail market share, Marvel beat DC Comics 35% to 31.5%. Image comics come in third with 9%, and top five rounded off by IDW and Dark Horse. Unit Market Share look similar, with Marvel ahead of DC 39.5% to 34.5%. Sales up 20% from September, and 7% from last October, which admittedly impressive since DC comics just then basking in glow of reboot plus have Frank's best selling book on market still. In year to date stats, comics industry is up 15% overall from 2011.

Marvel took five of top ten spots, as well as top two with Uncanny Avengers #1 and Avengers vs. X-Men #12, the ending of one era and the start of another. Is poetic in ways Frank not smart enough to understand. Batman #13, Justice League #13, and A+X #1 round out top five, followed by Green Lantern #13, Detective Comics #13, AvX Vs. #6, Walking Dead #103, and AvX Consequences #1. Frank attribute the dominance of Avengers vs. X-Men books to widespread reader masochism and racism against mutants.

Superman: Earth One Vol. 2 was top selling graphic novel, which will only embolden J. Michael Straczynski, who is real monster here. Brian K. Vaughn's Saga TPB took number two spot. Rest of top five was all Walking Dead. Frank proud of success of distant cousins, zombies, in both comics and television lately.

Frank expect Marvel will hold strong through end of year as Marvel NOW! books continue to roll out and DC continue to mistreat monster fanbase by withholding solo adventures of Frank. Readers invited to check out sales stats for selves and draw unreasonable conclusions about doom of industry despite clear success of both DC's Nu52 and Marvel's Marvel NOW!. Logic bad!

Here are charts, reprinted with Diamond's permission. Not that Frank need permission. Frank take what Frank wants.

Readers invited to check out sales stats for selves and draw unreasonable conclusions about doom of industry despite clear success of both DC's Nu52 and Marvel's Marvel NOW!. Logic bad!

Logic only bad when it conjured by people like Frank. :P

Frank showing he highly myopic; he only see current sales numbers, and not realize that things like reboots and renumbering only SHORT-term gimmicks that not last. Like comic companies in question, he only use SHORT-term "thinking". (Note quotation marks around that last word. :P)

What DC and Marvel do when sales inevitably go down, Frank?? They restart ALL their books at same time AGAIN??!! That not going to sell as well next time! And what they do when THAT bump in sales wear off?? Do it a THIRD time, with highest sales EVEN LESS?? You and people at comic companies never hear of Law of Diminishing Returns?? You Google term NOW; you learn something!

Relying on gimmicks all the time to boost sales BAD! Sales based on gimmicks never last in LONG term. You and people at comic companies learn lesson now, too, before it too late!

Herald say Frank need to go back to creator and get new, WORKING brain. At very least, he and equally unintelligent DC guys who put him in comic need to learn that "Frankenstein" was name of CREATOR, not monster. (It also interesting to note that, in original novel, monster speak perfect French, not this Hulk Speak.)

"Frankenstein was the creator, not the monster. It's a common misconception held by all truly stupid people."
— Kryten, Red Dwarf

1. "Frank" STILL one who is stupid. He not realize what Herald realize: There is REAL PERSON pretending to be Frank. Fictional monster NOT able to Tweet or post sales numbers. Herald really should not have to tell the real person this, but hey, Herald already confirmed that this person Not Very Bright. :P

This not Wizard of Oz, you know.
Herald know beforehand to ALWAYS pay attention to Man Behind Curtain. 8)

2. Another reason why "Frank's" brains clearly not firing on all cylinders: Like MANY stupid people Herald has spoken to, he also not realize that getting under people's skin after pointing out their stupidity is one of Herald's favorite things to do, and Herald has succeeded YET AGAIN with Frank! :-D

This, after Herald demonstrate this NUMEROUS times, including a MAJOR example that Herald often trumpets!!

And "Frank" fall for THIS?? "Frank" is dumb Dumb DUMB!! :P :P

3. Herald also note that "Frank" not able to refute even one of Herald's points. Fact that "Frank" not even try, clearly realizing Herald is right, actually demonstrates some amount of intelligence on his part. Thus, Herald believes there may actually be hope for "Frank" yet. :P :P :P

Clearly, Herald DID make Frank mad; otherwise, Frank not resort to such lame repsonses. :P

Now, if Frank was actually SMART, he could actually debate what Herald said. Of course, Herald and Frank both know Frank can't, because Frank is wrong. But Frank should at least stir what little grey matter he has, and TRY.

You're missing the point, my friend.

Just as with the sales numbers "Frank" here has pointed out, these Twitter responses are ultimately meaningless. Neither has any substance at all. The fact of the matter is that if he has to resort to these lame joke Tweets to try to claw back what little respect he can, it just demonstrates how badly he's lost this debate. And that's cool with me. 8)
