This is a thread to discuss the new Tony Harris cosplay/sexism controversy.

I'm annoyed that people are mainly latching onto the gender side of this, when the real issue should be that cosplayers, whether male or female, are fucking lame and should not be allowed.

I find it absolutely baffling why people care so much about cosplayers.

I find it equally baffling that industry professionals don't seem to understand that making comments like this is a poor professional decision.

I can get that there are occasional girls (and probably guys) that throw on some glasses and take a stupid pic for their facebook posing like they are geeks or something cheesy like that. Other than being mildly annoyed at a poser and happy they didn't make the duckface, I don't care much more about that issue.

Now, believing that a woman (or dude) pays to get into a con, buys stuff and spends time to make a costume, and has no love for the medium in some way shape or form is another matter. So maybe a fan is into movies, shows, books and various other geekery more than comics but still dresses up as a comic character, who cares. (other than punchy's cosplay hatred that is) And even if there is someone like that showing up there, how many of these damn 'posers' are there really? like one out of a thousand? Move the fuck on with your life and find a better cause.

Now if you are confusing booth babes with geeks, then just kill yourself. Those people are doing a job. Do you think the wedding photographer you hire would be coming to your wedding if you didn't hire them too? Are they 'poser' wedding guests.

Personally, I've never met someone cosplaying that didn't like something geeky, even if you don't count cosplaying itself as geeky. I mean, who the fuck are these guys thinking they get to judge who is fit to be a fan, fuck off.

Yeah, I don't think you should be so excited to have Tony Harris on your side. While I love his work, he comes off like a raving fucking lunatic in that post. His rant comes off like some serious serial killer shit, especially when he starts ascribing motives to cosplayers. Yes, Mr. Harris, because every woman is just dying to toy with you sexually.

So the fact that--in that post--Tony Harris can't compose a sentence for shit and acts like every female cosplayer is out to sexually torture him is mitigated by the fact that I think Tim Drake's wings look stupid?
