The Return of ROM: The Spaceknight?

It has been teased by Marvel many times before, but it appears the famous Spaceknight might finally be returning to comics or as a toy.

Source: Hasbro maybe bringing back Rom The Spaceknight

Ever since the famous series by Bill Mantlo (writer) and Sal Buscema (artist) ended in 1986, fans have always clamoured for the character's return. However, issues always arose due to who exactly owned the rights to the character (Parker Brothers had originally owned them after Marvel lost the rights once the series ended).

But now Toy Ark has learned Hasbro (which now owns Parker Brothers) has recently filed a patent on the name. Keep in mind as well Hasbro also distributes the Marvel toylines: Marvel Universe and Legends. Could this move signal the return of the character to Marvel and even more a possible release of the much celebrated comic book run?

Stay tuned as the Outhouse will report the latest developments.

This will all make perfect sense after Disney buys Hasbro.

Sounds awesome. I did like the character in the 80's so I would welcome his possible return.

I gotta admit, even as a dinosaur myself, I've never gotten the love for ROM. Or the Micronauts either for that matter.

Admittedly I never read much of either of them either, but what little I did see or hear about just never sold me on them being all that great.

Agree, I never read the comics and when I saw the toys I just thought the Micronauts were pretty cheep looking and Rom was too stiff.

The ROM toy back in the day ruled.

Your parents were just too cheap to get it for you. :smt002

Rom was interesting because the comic was much much cooler than the actual toy itself.

The last few issues of Rom were really ahead of their time imo, Mantlo and later Ditko took it in a very dark direction and I felt like it was one of the first comics I read in the early 80's that was written for an older audience than the general Marvel comic at the time.

I've heard a number of creators refer to the last arc in Rom as really groundbreaking, what happens with Starshine, Terminator and Firefall.
