Matt Fraction to Donate Hawkeye Money to Hurricane Sandy Relief

The superstar writer will donate all of his royalties from hurricane-themed Hawkeye #7 to the relief effort.

In a move estimated to increase Hurricane Sandy relief funds by hundreds of dollars, superstar writer Matt Fraction has sworn that he will donate the royalties paid to him for writing Hawkeye #7, a hurricane-themed comic, to the American Red Cross. The hurricane, which ravaged the East Coast and, in particular, New Jersey and New York a few weeks ago, has been touted as the worst disaster since 2011's Fear Itself event, which was also written by Fraction.

"I feel like I need to give back," said Fraction, speaking fictionally. "I may not be able to undo the damage I caused with the cliched storytelling and painfully slow pacing of Fear Itself, but a hurricane... that's something I can fix."

Fraction's profits from the lucrative comic book writing gig could ammount to more than $200, with "comic book writer" considered a lucrative gig along the lines of scrapper or professional dog-walker.

"I decided it would be better to donate the profits from a book no one reads, like Hawkeye, rather than the higher-selling Fantastic Four," said Fraction, who seemed to be building up to a point, but then had nothing else to add. He stared at us and nodded until we broke eye contact.

While Fraction's writing abilities may never recover to the levels of his pre-Marvel indie comics work, the Jersey Shore can certainly rise again, and, thanks to the generosity of Matt Fraction, the chances that it will have increased by .0000000000000000000001%. Following in Fraction's footsteps, The Outhouse will donate all of its advertising profits for the month of November as well, which, of course, means that the Red Cross owes us $27. We will take a check.

Pretty fucking cool, big respect to Fraction for this, and I hope this issue sells really well, not only for this, but because Hawkeye has been fantastic so far (I haven't read #4 yet)

Fraction is doing a great thing. And the Hawkeye book is amazing.

I think the Outhouse should donate its ad revenue to a charity that teaches forum users how to take a joke.

Hawkeye is so farkin' good.

I don't understand how it's not getting more love in these forums. There isn't even a Hawkeye thread to show the love for a superior book. You nerds are the worst.

I just added it to my pull list and ordered #1 and #2, 3rd printings, as well as #4, 1st printing.
