Surgery is Wednesday at 1:00 to remove the evil kidney.

The other kidney (as small as it is) has apparently been doing the job for both - so there's glimmers of hope.

Thanks to all for the well wishes!

You good people.

That sucks, cancer is a dick, my Mum was in hospital for most of this year with Leukemia, she's doing good now though, I hope your dad recovers too.

Can we give you one of Punchy's kidneys to your dad?

He's not going to need it. :P

This last Tuesday I found out my dad has kidney cancer, and this morning they've determined it's stage 4. They're going to remove the cancerous kidney next week but his other kidney won't sustain him so next week when they do this, my Dad will likely die of renal failure rather than the cancer.

Air travel Boston to Detroit is impossibly expensive so the wife & I will head out in the early AM for the 11 hour drive instead.

If anyone wonders why I may not be around as often, well, this is why.

BTW - BK, I owe you a TON of thanks.

This news saddens me. hang in there, buddy.

Last Wednesday they removed a loaf of bread sized tumor from my Dad. Complications arose as they also found a lump in a vein. But, 7 hours of surgery and 3.5 days in ICU later, he's doing the best he can and in all likelihood could be home for X-Mas.

That's the good news. The other side of the coin is in a pathology report I haven't seen yet. But for now, that's a worry for another day.

Thank to everyone for your posts and wishes. I don't even know if many of you 'virtual' people are real or not, but damn, if your support doesn't earn my gratitude.

Be well,
Jerry
