Batgirl #18 Solicitation Revealed

DC released the Bat Family solicitations, showing Ray Fawkes as a guest writer for two issues.

Gail Simone, the writer of the series from issue #1, was fired via email by DC Comics last week, causing quite a stir on the internet. It seems Ray Fawkes will write the title for two issues. It is unknown whether he will take over permanently, or whether someone else will be brought in to take over the title with issue #20.

I almost feel sorry for this guy. His issues will be reviled by many fans just for existing, quality be damned.

The last time I recall this kind outrage was when Mark Waid was fired from Fantastic Four.

It took Marvel weeks to fix that mistake. Hopefully DC will likewise respond (and sooner).

I dropped Hulk the moment Peter David was pushed out. FF was going to be dropped when Waid was fired.

Gail's earned enough respect from me for me to follow suit and have her last issue be mine as well.

Ray Fawkes is awesome. One Soul is a fantastic comic.

I'm honestly torn between "I would have fired Gail for him too" and "wow, what a waste of his talent."

In any case, maybe I'll actually read two issues of Batgirl now.
