If DC Reboots Captain Carrot as a Cheap Rocket Raccoon Knockoff in a Book No One Cares About, Does Anyone Notice?

The character has been renamed Captain K'Rot.

Source: DC Solicitations

There seems to be a lack of indignation over the New 52's redesign of Captain Carrot.  The character, originally a Superman pastiche with similar powers, has been redesigned as an anthropomorphic space rabbit wielding big guns. Oh, and he's been renamed Captain K'Rot.  Captain K'Rot will appear in Keith Giffen's Threshold, beginning with issue #3.

If that redesign sounds familiar, it might be because Giffen wrote another gun wielding anthropomorphic space animal named Rocket Raccoon.  Giffen's work on the character helped propel the space raccoon to new heights.  He'll even be featured in the upcoming Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy.

Anyways, I'll leave it to you to decide whether DC is ripping off Marvel and whether or not DC has ruined your childhood.  Carry on.

fuck Giffen.

fuck Didio.

fuck DCnU.

and fuck Hab preemptively for his sure-to-be-forthcoming "Giffen did more for Captain Carrot's popularity than Roy Thomas ever did" bullshit

just when i thought nothing done to the Zoo Crew could be worse than the hatchet job Johns pulled on them back in his Teen Titans run... :smt011 :smt011 :smt011

So it's Keith Giffen writing a warmed over version of his own Rocket Raccoon using a DC character?

Yeah, I'd read that.

All part of the idiotic, Marvelized Elseworlds that is the DCnU.

This is the garbage you're supporting, guys.
Consider your purchases more carefully.

I can't wait for someone at CN to take Captain Carrot & the Zoo Crew and transform it into the network's biggest cartoon ever. Just to show DC how stupid it is.

Never liked Captain Carrot before (even less a fan of Scott Shaw! (disliked that persistent exclamation point even more)).

The best thing Captain Carrot thing I ever read was when he became Zatana's hat trick bunny. (Take that Chapster  )

So with Giffen behind a redo, hell yeah - I'm in.

How well did that work though? I liked Marvel Star Wars as a kid but I dunno how memorable it was.

Though this guy did have a cartoon and was originally drawn by Michael Golden...

Now if the new Captain Carrot has a pal who is a talking carrot or vegatative creature, it might get too obvious.

Well, the Marvel Star Wars lasted 107 issues, 3 annuals and a mini-series. Marvel would love to have a success like that. :D

Maybe Keith can make Yankee Poodle into a French cosmonaut dog.
