Okay, so here's the skinny. Yesterday, word spread that an alleged script for Transformers 4 had leaked and included all manner of classic robot characters like Dinobots, Vector Prime, Unicron, Circuit Breaker and others. However, director Michael Bay himself quickly refuted the report on his website, calling it "completely false" and noting that he and scripter Ehren Kruger are only up to page 70 on their own screenplay.
Then, later in the day, the filmmaker came back with a postscript, adding, "I bet it is something from Hasbro. This time they are not doing a comic book of the movie because we want to keep our story under wraps. It must be their version of a comic themed Transformers story they are creating."
Indeed, that seems a likely possibility. As Blastr points out, considering the sheer number of additional characters, this leaked script would probably be better suited for animation or a comic book arc.
In a pre-Toy Fair update, Geekdad has lifted the lid on an all-new series of Transformers toys coming this Fall. The new line is named Transformers Construct-Bots, and it moves Transformers into a new realm of designs. Taking a few cues possibly from Bionicle or Machine Robo Mugenbine, this new series consists of 24 initial planned releases across four size classes, and they post complete compatibility with one another, allowing you to disassemble and reassemble the toys to your liking.
The four size assortments are Scout at $9.99 with characters like Ironhide and Starscream, Elite at $14.99 with Wheeljack and Soundwave, Triple Changer at $24.99 with Bumblebee and Blitzwing, and lastly Ultimate at $34.99 which is where Optimus Prime and Megatron may be purchased.
YES. I have no idea when the hell I'm getting him though since I preordered the exclusive Takara version coming out along with the re-release of the Fans Project addition.
