The wake of destruction left by Amazing Spider-Man #700, which was ~~leaked purposely to generate buzz~~ spoiled by a dastardly ne'er-do-well, continues to cause heartbreak and tragedy. Earlier in the week, writer Dan Slott, currently in hiding to avoid fallout from the comic, received death threats via social media in response to the events depicted in the comic. Today, a video was released on YouTube showing an golden eagle in Montreal, fed up with the treatment of a beloved character, attempting to kidnap a human baby. While the child survived the attack, he still found himself surrounded by French Canadians, a fate worse than death.

Slott declined to comment on the event, and has not denied accusations that he banged the eagle's mom.

While many believe the video to be a fake, avian abduction has been a menace to human society for more than a century, as evidenced by this article on the NY Times website about an eagle-perpetrated child abduction in England at the beginning of the twentieth century. The 1904 abduction is rumored to have been a response to a controversial plotline in the popular comic strip Hogan's Alley, in which the character Yellow Kid is revealed to actually be a light shade of ocher. The plotline caused an uproar via angry letter writing, the old fashioned version of the internet, but eventually petered out because it took seven years to generate the equivalent of one single angry facebook thread, and because Hitler did not exist yet, and comparing one's opponents to Napoleon simply didn't carry the same weight of insult.

I fully support that Eagles actions. That child would probably been one of millions who would have read that issue and been scarred for life.

However I feel you may have got the intentions wrong here. In a week where the Hobbit is released it seems clear to me the Eagle is quite clearly saying "Listen Gandalf, I'm fucking tiny compared to those things you ride around on and I can carry this child. How about you give Frodo an Eagle next time you want him to travel on such a long journey"
