Uncanny Avengers #3 will ship in January, allowing John Cassaday to keep his job for another three months. We've got a first look right here!

Uncanny Avengers, from the superstar creative team of Rick Remender and John Cassaday, launched the Marvel NOW! era of Marvel Comics in October, but quickly fell behind the other titles due to delays. However, the book is back on track, with issue #3 scheduled for release in January. According to sources inside Marvel, where, in this case "inside Marvel" means "completely made-up," this may be John Cassaday's last chance, as Marvel was reportedly looking at replacement artists when it was unsure whether Cassaday would be able to fulfill his commitments. While it's tough to find an artist that can match Cassaday's work ethic, Marvel was recently in contact with one
man mouse who may be up to the task: Slowpoke Rodriguez, former star of Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes animated shorts.
We asked Rodriguez, a Mexican national, if he thought he could succeed where Cassaday had failed. "Si." he told us in his lazy drawl. "I may not be the fastest mouse in all of Mehico, like my cawzin Speedy, but... actually, I do not have a counterpoint to that statement. I have no idea why they want to hire me, senor." All Slowpoke knows is that the money from Marvel will buy him a lot of cheese, a luxury in Slowpoke's Mexican community, where all cheese is hoarded from the peasant mice by a ruling class of selfish and spiteful cats. Actually, that's not too different from how things work in the United States.
In any case, Cassaday was able to complete the issue on time, leaving Rodriguez waiting in the wings. We reached out to Cassaday for comment, but the artist, having completed three issues of a comic book in six months, had entered a deep state of hibernation for the rest of the winter, and he wasn't feeling very talkative.
"Raaarrrrggghhhh!!" said Cassaday in response to our questions as he swiped at us groggily with his paws. "Raaarrrrggghhhhhhh!!!"
Cassaday's handlers distracted Cassaday with a large pot of delicious honey, allowing this reporter to live to write another day. Unfortunately, Cassaday's head soon became stuck in the pot, which experts believe could result in a three month delay for Uncanny Avengers #4.
The Outhouse will keep you updated on the situation. In the meantime, here's the press release:
