Oh God...so conflicted. On the one hand, it's my all-time favorite writer on a character I dig that should fit RIGHT into his wheelhouse. On the other hand...Didio...and a solicit that sounds like absolute dogshit. Ugh.

Much as I love Marc DeMatteis, the Didio factor is way too big for me to even think of picking this up.

Pretty much how I feel too in the final analyss. Didio + DCnU vs. JMD + PS ... Those scales just don't balance right now.

I've never read anything Dan Didio has written, and I've forgotten that there's a Phantom Stranger series out there right now. JM DeMatteis and Gene Ha/Zander Cannon are tempting, though.

Outsiders was awful but OMAC was a lot of fun.

Phantom Stranger so far has been pretty decent. Raven, Trigon, Dr Thirteen and Spectre have all had a part and Brent Anderson has been great.

With each issue the the two big twists of this New 52 Stranger gets easier to swallow.

I've read #'s 0 & 1 and liked both of them enough that I grabbed #'s 2 & 3.

Didio is a better writer (except for Outsiders) than a publisher. Who knew working in the comic industry would be a step up from when he was a writer on soaps. :smt102

Latest info is that Dan is plotting the book, J.M. is doing the dialogue.

Some tidbits from a CBR interview: (not enough though to bother with writing a new Front Page article here)

It's the classic breakdown: Dan does the plots, Brent draws from that and then I script from Brent's astonishing art. The plots are rock solid -- great set-ups, great characters and situations; and that leaves me lots of room to really work the characters, to layer in as much emotion, psychology and metaphysics as I can.

Let's just say the Spectre's feelings aren't benevolent. There's a classic supernatural brawl coming up. It's big, it's cosmic, it's emotional. And it will reveal many layers and levels of both characters, helping us to understand their positions in the new DCU.

Just read #2 and 3 last night. They were pretty darn good. I'm enjoying it immensely.

Chap, remember that Keith Giffen's involvement made OMAC a fun read. Maybe we'll have the same result here?
