The Outhouse Top 20 Comics

The Outhouse Top 20 Comics

The ballots have been cast and the votes collated: these are the top 20 current ongoings according to the motley crew here at The Outhouse.

Source: The Outhouse Forum

THE LIST:

  1. Saga (Image)
  2. Daredevil (Marvel)
  3. Batman (DC)
  4. American Vampire (Vertigo)
  5. The Unwritten (Vertigo)
  6. Hawkeye (Marvel)
  7. The Walking Dead (Image)
  8. Aquaman (DC)
  9. Wonder Woman (DC)
  10. Invincible (Image)
  11. Fables (Vertigo)
  12. Wolverine and the X-Men (Marvel)
  13. Uncanny X-Force (Marvel)
  14. The Manhattan Projects (Image)
  15. X-Factor (Marvel)
  16. The Sixth Gun (Oni Press)
  17. Thor: God of Thunder (Marvel)
  18. Conan The Barbarian (Dark Horse)
  19. Earth 2 (DC)
  20. Indestructible Hulk (Marvel)

THE BREAKDOWN:

With seven titles in the top twenty, Marvel is the big winner in this poll, with Image and DC tied at four titles apiece, Vertigo on three and Dark Horse and Oni bringing up the rear with one title each.  All said, one hundred separate books were nominated, including titles such as Sweet Tooth, Revival, Wolverine and Worlds' Finest that only managed one point each in the rankings.

With Marvel's Marvel Now! initiative fresh in everyone's mind, it's probably not surprising that the publisher won so comprehensively.  That said, the prominance of such non-traditional fare as Saga (the winner by an extremely comfortable margin and The Unwritten can only be good for the industry as a whole.  Here's hoping that 2013 brings yet more excellence and less in the way of cheap sensation for the sake of quick publicity.

Shit! Didn't know we were voting on this.

However, this list pretty accurately reflects what I would have said. I just would have put Uncanny X-Force in the top 5. After Otherworld, this book really pulled out all of the stops and got truly incredible.

I posted a thread last week asking people to list their top ten books. I then went through those lists awarding ten points to #1 picks, nine to #2 and so on. As I say, there were 100 different titles cited all together...

Wow. Guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open at the end of 2013 for next year's list!

I'll probably do a few more votes like this over the next few months as well. Best writer will be next.

I know I know I know

You Chis and Readers have really piqued my interest in it. I have to get around to it but I have so much in my to-read box right now. I'll put it in my next DCBS order.
