The Internet heartthrob will play Johnny, a gambler.
Source: Deadline. Internet heartthrob and movie jinx Joseph Gordon-Levitt has turned down a chance to play Star-Lord in the upcoming Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy. Instead, he will play Johnny in the upcoming Sin City sequel. Johnny, a gambler of some sort, is a new character and will act as a sort of bridge role in between the various disparate plots running throughout the movie.
Fans seemed upset at the thought that Gordon-Levitt, or "JGL" as he's known throughout the Joseph Gordon-Levitt community, spurned both Marvel's offer and an alleged chance to play Batman in the non-existant Justice League movie.
"This certainly ruins my hit count for the next six months," said Rick of ComicBooks.com, a site known for publishing at least two JGL rumor articles a day. "I don't understand why he'd give up the chance to make another big superhero movie for some black and white film," he added as he sadly deleted a draft of his latest article "Would Joseph Gordon-Levitt Be Even More Appealing as Batman with Different Colored Eyes"
However, Hollywood insiders seemed pleased at the news. "JGL and Sin City 2 are a match in heaven," said one. "One can't carry a movie and the other is a surefire flop. The studio's found an excellent scapegoat for when this thing bites the dust."
Gordon-Levitt, on his part, seemed excited by the new role. "I love how the first movie uses VFX, not to make fake things look real, but to create a heightened world unburdened by the look and feel of reality," he said in a statement. "Plus, nobody makes a badass like [director Robert] Rodriguez."
Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For will probably fail in theatres in 2014.
