Anybody who thinks that the "classic" Legion revival hasn't failed by now is either delusional of Amoebas. Or both.

If sales don't pick up with Giffen, you can kiss the Legion goodbye, and it ain't gonna come back for a good long time.

I still dropped it and even with Giffen back it was not enough to make me want to buy it now.

Maybe at first, but most of them might not keep buying the book.

And a couple of thousand is probably not going to be enough to seriously help the book out. I'd say it needs more like 20,000 more readers.

It's never going to get 20,000 new readers.

Now, I see a lot of Dark Horse and Image titles that survive with 7,000 or 8,000 issues a month, why can't the Legion survive with 12,000 issues a month?

Creator Own books all the cost goes on said creators and not really on Image or DH where as the opposite is true about the big two books.

This has always puzzled me. I love Dynamite's output & buy most of it. They aren't creator owned books. Now I haven't looked at sales figures but I'm pretty sure their titles probably don't sell anymore than Marvel or DC's lowest selling books so how come they manage to survive & rather well too it seems?

They're rarely in the top 100, so yes, sales wise most of them are below Legion of Super-Heroes ...

That's ridiculous. Several of their books are in my top ten, all the Dynamite books I buy would be in my top twenty. To think they don't make the top 100 in sales beggars belief.....

Just had a read through of all the Warlord of Mars & Dejah Thoris comics. Great stuff. Green Hornet catch up next.

DC probably pays creators more for their books for one thing.

Perhaps and they have fewer books. However they do have regular top talent working for them in the likes of Alex Ross, Garth Ennis, John Cassaday & Paul Renauld. Plus a lot of licensed properties which must cost them something.
As for the Legion it would be unthinkable for them to get cancelled & disappear.

For Nacireman & I at least :-)

Sadly, it would seem that Legion is not a huge priority for DC. I wouldn't call it an "unthinkable" property not to have a series. Not like Superman or Batman, at least.

Dynamite has great titles, The Boys, for example, was one of my favorites. But if you check the montly sale charts you'll see that the top 100 has only Marvel and DC stuff (with one or two exceptions from Image, TWD and Saga these days, and maybe one other title from IDW).

A great shame & just seems unbelievable. Haven't read The Boys but hoping to buy the hardcover collections if they stay in print long enough for me to be able to afford them.
