I bought the $1 debut issue, because hey, itsa buck.

The story wastes no time in set-up, and deftly introduces a whole new comic book world of heroes and villains, both street level and super-powered. That's one thing I noticed, like in Irredeemable all the characters are sort of comic book archetypes, or variations on themes. It's done well in the first issue.

If you want to read a Contest Of The Champions or Secret Wars-type book that's done more modern where lives are at stake, you might like it.
