Benedict Cumberbatch for Dr. Strange, and I'm sticking with it.

Yeah, he shouldn't be a spring chicken.

Found some Stern issues at the store yesterday... GREAT reads!

Much as I would love to see a good Doctor Strange movie, I'm not optimistic. It's another case where I hope they prove me wrong, but I don't think he'll translate well to the live action screen.

I think this has literally been said about every Marvel Studios movie to date.

I'm not one of those general naysayers, though. I think what's been said is that it won't translate to the screen, not can't. A lot of the properties in movies now can work as long as they have the right script and the right people behind. The hulk is a good example. We've seen it done right and horribly wrong. Hell, I still feel that Green Lantern could work under the right circumstances. I have great hopes for Ant-Man because I know the visuals can be there (crossing fingers on a script).

Strange is different, though. His origins are psychedelic and his best books and adventures are not in an earthly, or even realistic, realm at all. If you try and translate him into an entirely earthly adventure, you lose a lot of the character's appeal. If you go unearthly and, god forbid, cgi the crap out of it, I just don't expect anything good there. As I said, though, I hope to be proven wrong.

I say Roger Yuan, who played Dr. Wu in Black Dynamite, should be Wong. 8)
