Influential? How?
Is the battle-kart racing genre really that popular?

That seems like an odd order and an odd statistic to measure.
It's not based on sales, and it has some sequels ranked higher than the original games that influenced them. I mean, why is RE4 ahead of the original, but the original GTA is ahead of GTA3 or Vice City which really started the big craze for the game?
Also, Halo isn't nearly as influential as Doom, Wolfenstein, or Goldeneye. Doom and Wolfenstein were the first two big FPS and Goldeneye was the first to show it could work as a multiplayer game on a console.
And FF12 that high? Really? For what?
This makes no sense.

How is it more influential than Mario Bros? That fame created platformers which was the bread and but for at least 2 generations of game systems. Also Halo shouldn't be higher than Goldeneye. Goldeneye fully brought computer style FPS to consoles. They figured everything out and to this day games still follow their lead.

Well it created the genre and the Mario Kart games have been among the biggest sellers on each Nintendo system since the SNES, but I don't think it's nearly as big as many other games.

There aren't any good battle go cart mascot games besides Mario Kart. They only decent one I ever played was a Crash Bandicoot one for the PS1 ten years ago.

This list is pretty damn odd. Lego Star Wars but no Donkey Kong or Pac Man?

There's a NASCAR Kart racing game. That's all you need to know about Mario Kart's impact.
There was a PAC Man. And Diddy Kong. And Crash. And Chocobo Racing. And many, many more.

yeah 3 is far more influential seeing as it started the whole 3-d "sandbox" game genre

The more I think about it the more I think FF12 being that high is the biggest problem here. I mean, what did that game do that was original at all? Typical FF story. Gameplay and fighting system had all been done before. No new additions to anything really. In what way was it influential?
