I mean, I'm all for giving new creators a chance. It just feels like the proper way to handle a franchise would be giving the flagship book to a creator who proved himself on a lower-tier book while allowing the lower-tier books to be populated with new creators. Look at Batman. Snyder proved himself on Detective Comics and then was given Batman; Detective Comics was then given to John Layman, who has been given an opportunity to prove himself on a Big Two book after producing excellent work outside of the Big Two.

A Larfreeze series? WHY?!

I read Threshold #1 . I loved the main story and I thought the backup blew chunks.

I'm torn regarding Bernard Chang moving to a Green Lantern book. He's grown immensely as an artist. But I really like his art on Demon Knights. Robert Venditti on GL makes some sense to me actually. I'm debating whether I'm keeping up with New Guardians.

I asked it before, but what is Tony Bedard going to be working on? Blue Beetle ended and he's off New Guardians.

Don't care enough to continue. Kinda funny I was ready to drop it but when I learned Johns was leaving anyway I decided to pick up the remaining 4 issues.

Venditti has been writing excellent indie books for a while and had a higher profile mainstream sci-fi book launch a little over a year ago and has produced a couple issues for DC that they've been keen on. Fialkov produced one of the critical darlings of the nu52. How are they in any way "less worthy" than Layman on Detective?

Also, why do people assume that Tomasi would want to write the main book? He's been doing GL stuff almost as long as Johns. Seems more than reasonable to me that he's equally done and would rather work elsewhere for DC or on stuff outside the company than plug away at GL for a few more years.

The fact DC is handing the GL books to writers who are aren't quite household names shown how bare the cupboards are over there right now

You misunderstand me. It makes sense for them ro work on other titles in the GL stable. But giving the main GL title to someone who's only done a handful of issues for DC seems kind of odd when their biggest "name" writer carried it for 9 years. Adding Billy Tan to that mix is just an even bigger head-scratcher.

You may be right about Tomasi, though. He very well could have turned the job down for all we know. I'll sure miss his take on Guy, though!

It could also be a chance to see Green Lantern's sales drop by at least 20,000.
I could understand giving some up-and comers a chance on the ancillary Lantern books, but DC needed to get a writer with a higher profile to take over GL.
