Eh, I gave it a six again. Still a lot of talking, not much happening. Though necessary talking in some instances. I figured the group they kicked out would end up at Woodberry. But the second half of the season I've started to feel like I'm watching Sopranos with these awesome "Next Week" ads, and then you get to the show and nothing happens. I'm sure it's building to a good climax at least.

I mean no one thought to have a slightly more in depth conversation with Andrea about the Governor?

Yea, I can see some stupidity for realism sake, b/c people do stupid stuff sometimes and can't be perfect and a team of writers figuring every momentary decision out as they write stuff for weeks shows when someone is never stupid. But this is not that. Stupidity is just becoming a plot device to move the story.

I was worried when the news came out that the director got the boot during the break (even though he finished out the season already), but after seeing these last few ep's I'm glad he's gone.

That was pretty boring. I'll probably try to watch it again, but the characters are just not coming together for me like that did by that point in the comic--not that I want them to do the same things as in the book. But for example, Rick's psychotic episodes this early in his story show a man falling apart, not a man finding himself as a leader. Would you ever trust this guy to be in charge, knowing he'd likely crack under pressure again and worse? At this point, I would be asking myself if it wasn't time to 86 the guy from the group entirely before he kills someone or gets someone killed.

If they made changes in direction after this season was playing out in production, I don't blame them a bit. But the larger problem to me is that the comic book by this point in the narrative was still subverting expectations of what would happen, while the show is beginning to show signs of TV Cliche Syndrome.

Rick was falling apart in the comic too. After the prison arc, sure... it probably adds more drama to have the guy falling apart just when they need him most on the show.. but he was a mess in the comic too. And honestly, I don't think he's been a dependable leader ever since they left the prison in the comics. He's a paranoid psycho there too.

He comes off as kind of pathetic on the show though.

I dunno, Chris, there's just not much about the last few episodes you could defend to me, outside of an action sequence full of much shooting/little hitting. It's been a good show, just not a great one. And a lot of that has to do with the characters not coming together for me like they did in the comic. It's very telling that almost everyone prefers the two new characters not (yet) in the comics. Because the core group should be just as well-written too, and they're not. At this point it wouldn't matter much if they all got eaten by zombies and Merle & Daryl rode off on choppers singing Vaya Con Dios.

Actually, that would significantly improve the show. I'm thinking spinoff.

It would probably improve the comic lately too!

I'm just kidding, the comic's still all right with me. It has good issues and boring issues too. Not as strong as back when they were at the prison, maybe.

Yeah wasn't impressed with the latest episode either. Gave it a 7 as it wasn't bad it was just kind there.

The Governor didn't think to question Andrea on how she got out or made it all the way to the prison on her own ?
Nor did he wonder how his assistant with the glasses dude found these new visitors ?
