That GL cartoon is pretty damn good. Its funny and the animation is pretty solid.

It probably has more to do with the cost of production compared to the overall profitability.

If you don't convince your son to sport a pomp, wear sunglasses, and say "Whoa, momma!" when a pretty girl walks by and get smacked in the back of the head by his mother all because he read Johnny Bravo, you sir are a horrible father.

Right now, if children wanted to read mainstream DCnU/Marvel Universe comics, they COULDN'T. And why?? Because, paradoxically enough, creators and readers need to convince themselves that THEY are "Not kids anymore!" despite continuing to enjoy stories about people in colorful Halloween costumes hitting each other. So they have to have heroes and their foes cause nasty massacres, and Catwoman mounting Batman, both on-panel now.

Why should the kids lose out because you guys suffer from low self-esteem??

But kids love massacres and mountings.

Then let them watch porn (original version and "torture").
But leave the mainstream superhero comics out of it; they should be going for a wider audience of they intend to survive.

Whatevs, comics not being for kids anymore is not a problem to me.

What is a problem is grown men and women still being obsessed with the same cartoons they liked when they were kids.

At least Adventure Time is current.

Fixed. Both cartoons and comics amount to the same thing.

Again, the quoted post is coming from a guy with a superhero avatar., but he fails to see the hypocrisy.

How is it hypocrisy, modern superheroes are aimed at adults more than kids. Whether or not they should be is beside the point, they are aimed at adults.

Cartoons are still aimed mostly at kids. They have appeal to adults, sure, but cartoons are still for kids.

ITT: Punchy reveals that he is stuck in the Animation Age Ghetto, for he has never heard of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, any number of anime, The Simpsons, the oeuvre of Seth McFarlane, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, etc., etc. Thus, he is apparently clueless about the last 25 years of this planet's pop culture.

Yeah, I've never heard of The Simpsons

The cartoons in this thread, Powerpuff Girls, etc, are for kids.

I just have a problem with all these comics adaptations of cartoons claiming to be for kids and therefore superior to superhero comics, when they are clearly for nostalgic adults.
