Uncanny Avengers #4

Postby Zechs » Wed Feb 27, 2013 1:27 am

We're clearly in the era of the 90s again aren't we? All that's really missing is one character, Ben Reilly, and we be smack in the middle of it. Don't believe me? By the end of this issue you'll be shaking your head either at the ridiculousness or embrace what Rememder brought.

As for what he brought well let me put it to you this way. The evidence was there on the wall since the end of #1. What you ask? What's got me so nostalgic that thinks we're living back in the 90s era of EXTREME?!

See my next post.

Awesome.

Let me wake up a little more to decide if I meant there literally or sarcastically.

Seems like a pretty logical move to me based on the premise of the series (x-men and avengers fighting stuff together) and the inciting incident (evil people steal Xavier's brain for some kind of evil purpose).

I believe pretty strongly that there are no characters that are out and out irredeemable as creations (for recent Marvel examples see McKeever's Nomad aka Heroes Reborn Bucky stuff or Jeff Parker's Red Hulk work. People even seem to enjoy the new Scarlet Spider series, so go figure).

Don't mind this. He is really one if the one "big" baddies that both the avengers and Xmen share so..

Looks like Holocaust though.

Really? I think it looks like Onslaught with Red Skull's face instead of a Magneto helmet.

I'm embracing the ridiculousness of the story because that's what Remender does really well.

A little, and I miss that bastard. Rememder didn't kill him during the Dark Angel Saga right?

I'm impressed with how well-preserved Xavier's corpse is after 11 years.

Related note, I hope that Xavier's Well Preserved Corpse becomes a major Marvel villain. That's story potential for years to come.

I liked Remender's Deadpool. Never liked that character before.

Other notes:

This arc opens with Havok, Wolverine and other assorted heroes getting pissed at Cyclops for killing someone while possessed. This arc ends with Havok and team telling people that they weren't responsible for deaths caused while possessed by the Red Skull. I can't decide if that's a deliberate attempt at bookending or just more hypocritical bullshit from Cap's Goon Squad.

Isn't the point (reiterated by Magneto in Uncanny X-Men #1) that the Phoenix Force didn't really make Cyclops do anything he didn't want to do deep-down? It's not really the same thing, and I say that as someone who was completely underwhelmed by this arc.

So Magneto, whose knowledge of the Phoenix Force rivals that of Wolverine, claims that Cyclops really wanted to kill Xavier and that makes it the truth? I'm sure Jean Grey really wanted to kill a planet full of aliens, too, deep down.

I'm probably just reading too much into it in order to stir up more controversy. :P
