Today the company announced that in April, following the March 19 release of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U, the game will be getting a software update in response to community feedback.
The update will add cross-region functionality for online play, allowing North American and European gamers to play together in up to four-player battles. It will also allow for off-TV play using the Wii U GamePad.
Additionally, for several months after release monster hunters can expect to recieve additional DLC quests, free of charge. The first quest will be available at launch.
“Not only am I getting calcific tendonitis, but they’ve also found what are apparently several ruptures in the muscles,” Sakurai wrote. “My upper arm hurts, and there’s this chronic dull pain in my elbow joint as well. On the lower arm, there’s this feeling of fatigue around the flexor muscles that turns into pain when I use a keyboard or game controller with my fingers.”
Sakurai says there’s no quick cure for the ailment. The only real solution is for him to avoid using his right arm and hand, and give them time to heal, which is what Sakurai is trying to do to the best of his ability. He mentions brushing, eating, and using a trackball with his left hand instead of his right.
The launch of SimCity has not gone well, and it continues to not go well. It’s going so poorly, in fact, that Electronic Arts and Maxis are going to be turning off “non-critical gameplay features" to try and make it better.
This move was announced by a SimCity community manager on the game’s message boards. These “non-critical gameplay features” include leaderboards, achievements, and region filters.
