Not to mention that it was actually James Jr on the phone messing with her and not really the Joker. |

Yeah, looks like when given the chance the fans would rather read even a bad book about the Barbara Gordon Batgirl than a good book about Steph or Cassandra Cain's Batgirl. |

Batgirl works because it has a subtext of the past never staying dead. You've had Babs having to deal with PTSD when fighting crime. Her mom and brother have come back into the picture. And then there was Joker. |

The only problem is that technology has made Oracle more and more irrelevant as a player in the DCU. There are all kinds of portable tech that heroes can rely on. You saw how Batman started accessing the Batcave computers from his costume. |

But for heroes who are not freaking Batman, Dick Grayson (my skin crawls for Dick being Tim and now Tim being Dick), Ralph Dibney, and Detective Chimp Oracle would still be needed since they don't have that sort of tech or savvy skills to know things like Babs did when she was in that role. |

Wouldn't that be a bit racist ? |

Apparently not in the Outhouse. |

Or they can depend on Cyborg or any of the other characters with those "savvy skills" in the DCU. It's not like Babs is the only person in the DCU who could hack, y'know. Besides, not having Oracle (or someone like her) to fall back on forces those characters to be more self-reliant. |

|

|
||
But as always nobody is doing that with Cyborg even though they should. You do realize that was the entire point of Simone's vol. 2 of BoP? Of course who's to say villains still don't have a Calculator doing the same thing? There should be balance. |
