May have been. But they were both in on it one way or the other. |

I put all the blame on Johns. Meltzer is one of my favorite American comic book writers, so he's innoncent until proven guilty. |
Meltzer's one of those guys who does what he wants regardless of what effect they'll have on the characters or other creators. Identity Crisis is the prime example of that. |
Not really. If you read his interviews, he says that DC gave him permission to kill a lot of important characters. He says he didn't kill them because he knew that eventually they'd be retconned back to life and that would diminish the impact of Identity Crisis as a saga. I'm sure he does consider the effect his stories will have after him. |
What he did in Identity Crisis, though, was make the JLAers look like crap due to the mindwipes, and made Elongated Man and Ray Palmer nearly unusable for the following few years (outside of 52). |
And the result was the greatest JLA story in over two decades, wasn't it? |
No. Indentity Crisis sucked. |

And he ESPECIALLY destroyed the possibility of any good use of the villain Dr. Light who will NEVER Live It Down. If Meltzer had TRULY considered the effect he would have on the characters, he might have also had just enough sense to never have written that story. |
The sad fact is that he never gave a s**t about the consequences of his actions. Same with JLofA. He flung stuff around with no plans whatsoever of resolving anything he came up with. |

I liked it better when it was called "Watchmen" |

Definitely the best I've seen from DC in years. |

I had more enjoyment reading Final Crisis than I did Infinite Crisis. At least Morrison earned the right to mess with the DCU, A part-timer like Meltzer hasn't. |

It seems to me, that if DC comics gave him the keys to their car, they obviously feel he earned the right to drive it. And, despite what many fanboys on the internet think, they are the ones who get to make that decision, not you. ![]() |

It means DC makes poor decisions with its "vehicles." Identity Crisis may have gotten the sales, but look at how many properties he damaged doing it. Justice League, notably. |
