IIRC, the head of the Secret Empire looked like/was the sitting POTUS and offed himself in front of Captain America, causing him to give up the role of Cap for awhile.

This president was Nixon.

Edit - Ack! No he didn't, I was confusing the story. Kennedy (in a way) saved Superman by pretending to be Clark Kent. :oops:

First - that Fantastic Four issue was just way too much Doctor Who.
