I was wondering that too. Justice League and Justice League Unlimited did run from 2001 to 2006 but almost everything since has featured Hal Jordan including the live action Green Lantern movie, the DC Animated movies, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. I would say that at this point, Hal Jordan is just as prominent in the public's eye as John Stewart.

if Justice League and Justice League Unlimited weren't still airing every saturday morning on on the CW you might have something there... John was also featured in Young Justice as well...

The very concept of the Punisher (Mack Bolan ripoff slash serial killer) kinda precludes EVER reading a "meaningful story without killing anybody"...

That was sarcasm. And I prefer Execuitioner inspired and done better.

Does anything think the new GL as a female would have been more interesting? I mean we have already had 5 main male GLs such as Hal, Alan, Kyle, John and Guy, so why not make Baz a female Green Lantern for a change?

It would be a good idea, but you'd probably just get a bunch of butthurt Jade fans complaining about it.

DC claims that there never was any truth to the rumors of killing John Stewart. Venditti has tweeted:

Lots of rumors out there. Here's the truth: Van and I have never even contemplated killing John Stewart.
We have plenty of plans for John. Plans that probably wouldn't work as well if he was, you know, dead.

Alex Segura, DC Comics Executive Director of Publicity posted on his personal twitter account: "Seeing a lot of unverified reports on this. To clarify: John Stewart is not going anywhere."

Fialkov originally only said: "editorial decisions about the direction of the book that conflicted with the story I was hired to tell, and I felt that it was better to let DC tell their story the way they want."

After Uncle Rich at BC stated he had received this hot tip from " a number of high profile industry sources", CBR jumped on the pile and claimed that they had "independently confirmed" this. However now they are politely back-peddling.

As CBR points out: Currently, Venditti and Segura's comments state that there are not any current plans to kill off John Stewart, but do not address the existence of the editorial mandate in the first place.

Maybe because they can't prove that there was an "editorial mandate" in the first place ?
