Resident Alien v.1: Welcome to Earth – Alien posing as a human get embroiled in a murder mystery. He’s shown as an alien but people see him as human, curious to see how people see him. And it’d be interesting if he wasn’t camouflaged and they just saw him as one of them.

Flashbacks were super short and made me want to see more of that.

Really liked the art. Looking forward to volume two!

Peter Panzerfaust v.1: The Great Escape – Passed on it when it was originally solicited but then I heard it was Peter Pan vs the Nazis I was on board. Pays to read solicits. :)

It’s one of those deals where it’s set in the real world with no fantasy elements but I really enjoyed it. Art fit really well. I will continue following the series.

Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman vol. 5 - YEAH! That shit was DOPE! Was awesome when all that shit went down. I really enjoyed the Johnny Storm backup story in the Negative Zone. The art was, as usual, really good. I really like Steve Epting's work. Liked the back-up features, especially the one about Franklin.Kinda figured that they white guy was going to be his future self. Also had no clue as to what was going on in the last issue until I read...

FF vol. 3 - I enjoyed this a whole lot more than the other FF books. Seems like this series really found its voice dealing with the kids. The artist on the first part was kind of yucky and I found it hard to tell characters apart a lot of the time. Like I wasn't sure half the time if the blond kid was Alex Power or Franklin. Still, I liked the story, especially the part where they go to the council chambers and Doom fights the Celestials. I liked the ending well enough too.

Going out later to buy some new comics.

My order for "Saga" just came in, so I'm going to be picking it up today.

As a side note, I read "The Manhattan Projects" vol. 1 and I liked it. It has a very bizarre storyline, but in a good way.

I'm glad to see many people trying Manhattan Projects, it's one of the best monthlies out there.

I hope everyone remembered to get East Of West today too.

Well, one out of four's not bad, I guess...they can't all be winners.

Pax Romana was pretty cool. I will say it right now and you all can disagree but Hickman's art is weak! It's so static that I felt like I was reading a children's book for adults. The color palettes and watercolors and excessive use of white space really put me off. Nothing about the art jumped out at me. I might pass the Nightly News over now because of it. I do like that he did everything though. That problem with the atthen led me to feel like I was just reading a story told entirely through dialogue. That's okay because it works here. The ideas are so radical that they become believable, like it could happen. I have a few questions about things but I'm not really sure if they can get answered. I liked the framing narrative too and it could partially be the reason why it feels so childish.
