Supposedly the voice at the beginning of this is Cobra Commander:

Interesting choice Chu is going with the Hama version who always envisioned CC to have a grizzled voice that sounded like a young Orson Welles.

Larry Hama's Retaliation review

Basically... it's better than the first one.

I don't think it could have been worse so that's not really saying much.

EVERY 1980s G.I. Joe Figure on One Giant Poster!

If "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and the just-announced third Joe film have your 1980s Joe-nostalgia in overdrive, you’ll want to get this giant poster from 3DJoes.com – which features all the classic action figures in one place.

Yes, this poster features 244 "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" figures in chronological order, from the glory days of Cobra Commander and Snake Eyes to the very strange years of Serpentor, Sgt. Slaughter and William “Refrigerator” Perry to those oddballs from the 1987 G.I. Joe movie like Golobulus. We’re still not sure what the deal with those was, but someone was reading a lot of H.P. Lovecraft.

The poster is 24"x36" and is created using four-color printing. It can be ordered for $28 after shipping, with proceeds going to help fund the hosting for 3DJoes.com, an online resources that allows fans check out original Joe figures from all angles, and even includes the Larry Hama-written file cards. The poster is available with the character names and without, in case you want to have some sort of party game where your friends attempt to name every type of Cobra Viper. A fool’s errand!

And yes, there are plans for a 1990s Joes poster as well, so fans can relive the likes of G.I. Joe: Extreme and Sgt. Savage. It was a strange time.

Some news from Joe Con pertaining to Wave 3 & 4 for the G.I. Joe Retaliation figure line:

http://www.hisstank.com/gi-joe-news/con ... ate-12115/

The next wave of figures will be hitting retail in late July. The Toy Fair date of May is incorrect.

Still figuring out internally the proper size for the brand in modern times. Similar to Star Wars prequels, they over saturated with the first movie, under produced for the second, and will have a better idea on how much to produce by the time the 3rd hit.

Retaliation toys are selling well so far.

Data Viper background - Roaming network relay point, allows Cobra to control drones and other vehicles without a centralized network. Has 4 screens in helmet for each of the 4 cameras on the drones.

Wave 3 is 12 new figures, one case, no doubles. Late July early August.

Wave 4 is additional figures not released by that point and carry forwards of popular or hard to find figures from previous waves, Colton was mentioned.

The Alpha vehicle landing boat with EEL will have a 50/50 ratio on the figure, half with Cobra symbol on chest, half without.

Micro Force Series 2 is not planned for release as of now, may happen later.

SDCC can't be shown because they contracted with a national outlet for initial unveiling.

SDCC hint - Will be a bigger set, fill a void for many collectors, will have a surprising amount of figures they think the fans will be happy with. Didn't say it would be Joe/TF, but hinted it will probably carry forward.

Kre-O doing well. Will continue with TRU as exclusives. Hasbro is dedicated to Kreo-O and is heavily invested in the segment as a company, will continue to push forward with it.

Dollar Joes will be coming with better distribution.

Vehicle drivers - Eaglehawk driver has full articulation, asked if that would continue, they said yes, that the reduced articulation drivers were a mistake and they won't do it again.

Some more Joe Vault figures (that we might see eventually ala Kwinn, Ultimate CC, Storm Shadow, and Data Viper):

i just went through a ton of the idw joe trades. regrettable really after the initial cobra story suckered me in. that was pretty decent despite basically being brubaker's sleeper with GI joe characters. went downhill after that cobra commander was shot pretty fast.

everything else that followed was incredibly confusing and bogged down in crossover after crossover.

apparently hama's is the lowest selling of the lot, but it's supposed to be really good? should i take the punt?

Yes. It's VERY good. Hama still got it.
