KOTOR 2, conceptually, was far from shitty ... it was just buggy as hell and unfinished. The restoration project is actually pretty awesome now that it's finished.

there was a ton of storylines, levels and stuff that was simply locked out of the final product in order to rush the game through deadlines. more here:

i was looking forward to 1313, sucks that it's basically been shut down with no indication of its future. kotaku reckons that it and first assault is dead :(

too bad as Lucasarts was a favourite brand of mine in those early PC years... but if we get some more epic star wars titles (imagine a Star Wars game ala Arkham?) I'm OK with it
I'm sure the people let go will find work elsewhere soon .. working for George Lucas has to look good on the resume, no?

To see that many people lose their jobs is frustrating to say the least, but it makes a lot of sense. Lucasarts was one of the least productive and generally lowest quality game developers out there in the last 10 years in an industry that is losing studios by the day. The industry is going through tough times, so i can't see keeping open a pretty poor studio as a good idea.

More known for its past success than current so it not unreasonable to see Disney make this move. If they can licence the franchise out to a more successful studio no operation cost on them.

I don't know. If Disney had a better track record on videogames (outside the mobile space) then I might agree. Looks kind of bleak.

open source means the games code is now public domain and open to be manipulated and distributed by whoever.
