Joe Abercrombie's 'The Blade Itself' Coming to Comics?

Joe Abercrombie has been posting some interesting images on his blog the last few days.

Abercrombie is pretty well known among fantasy readers for his dark and gritty writing, even spawning terminology like "grimdark" for the style.  His books so far have all been set in the same world and started with The First Law trilogy and book one: The Blade Itself.  From there he continued with stand alone novels, and often with different characters, but still set in the same amazing, yet dark world.  I've read and reviewed all his work and his books remain some of the more highly recommended novels to readers.

Now, from the images he's been posting on his blog, it seems that work may be receiving the comic book treatment.  Whether this is going to be a new story or simply a comic adaptation of one of his books, we aren't yet sure, but judging from the filenames of the images - THEBLADEITSELFPG01, we are leaning toward the latter.

Logen Ninefingers is one of the stars of the trilogy and this appears as though it might be from an early battle at the beginning of book one.  The only concern here is that Logen doesn't look like I, or possibly many other fans, would have pictured him, almost too handsome.  Logen is a battered barbarian warrior, not a dashing knight and in work as bleak as Abercombie's I wouldn't expect things to be so "prettied" up.  It's too early to judge however, but it will be interesting to see what becomes of this.  Stay posted to The Outhouse for more.
