Mainly for the Brits...

Over here in the States, when Maggie's peer Reagan died, he was elevated to near godhood status by many and he's still a selling point for politicians.

With the Iron Lady now gone, will her role in history become legend, will she be just another former PM, or will her story be a cautionary tale?

She was a cunt.

Glad she's dead, hope the rest of her party follows.

Can't deny she inspired a generation of British comic writers who fucking hated her but wrote brilliant stories in response.

With that being said, it should be Frank Miller who does her biography.

When I last went a footy match there was a chant going around which started

"Jelly and Ice Cream when Maggie dies"
which then changed to
"Tail on the Donkey when Maggie dies"
there were quite a few more.

Come to think of it, I'd prefer she were still alive. By all accounts her mind was gone and she was unable to fend for herself at all. Seems rather more fitting.

As if any of the main three political parties in England have any moral fibre, or selfless interests for the welfare of the people of these isles.

Mrs Thatcher was an exception, she should be regarded as a leader that stopped the far left from taking the UK on the slippery road to the stone age, and be remembered for standing up for the U.Ks overseas interests, and of course Britons living around the world on protectorates like the Falkland Islands. If she had listened to the UKs so called allies (USA a country that connived with the Nazis after 1945 into allowing these murderers to escape Israel justice) she would have been talked into allowing a fascist state (friends to Hitler’s Nazis) to goose step in and takeover British territory.

Whatever anyone feels about Mrs Thatcher she had guts, put the Great back into Britain, and stood by her principles right or wrongly. The time of the 80's were interesting, and many people thought that Labour leaders like Michael Foot (a disciple of Marxist theories and probably on the payroll of the Kremlin) were a sound choice to vote for in the 1983 general election, if that had happened the whole palaver of the Cruise missiles in England and the eventual defeat by the West mainly with the policies of Regan & Thatcher which led to the collapse of the Communists in Russia could have turned out very differently to how it is today.

I absolutely hate the phrase

"put the Great back into Britain"

What does that even fucking mean. Do people think the Great part of the Great Britain name is actually supposed to be some kind of verb?

I'm genuinely shocked it took this long for someone to throw a bucket of water at her.

I am surprised that the first place I've found people actually talking about her and her legacy is the Outhouse.

How will she be remembered? Hard to say. She's hated by many (most?) who actually know what her policies were, but at the same time she redefined British polity so much that there is no serious thought of going back. Once the generation that actually knew her dies off, she may not be remembered much at all, simply because her 'reforms' have become so ubiquitous that they seem the norm.

Interesting footnote: Thatcher was the first woman, ever, to come to national leadership on her own strength. Every woman before her came into power through her father or marriage. That includes modern female leaders such as Gandhi (father) and Myer (husband).
