![]() Last week's thread featured 2 titles, yet no reviews. Will this week's pick deliver a review (or two)? Uncanny Avengers #6 ![]()
Digital copy can be found here. Ze rules: Review as often or as little as you like. Once you've posted 5 reviews, you will be awarded 1 pick. You can post 5 reviews, right? That's a totally achievable goal and with day and date digital releases becoming the standard, it shouldn't matter if your shop ordered enough copies of this weeks comic or not. When multiple Review Groupers have posted 5 (or more) qualifying reviews, they will be awarded their pick in the order that they qualified. What constitutes a qualifying review? Any review posted (with a score on a scale from 0-10, that's right 0!) within 1 calendar month of the thread going live. Reviews are to be at least 5 sentences long. It shows that a) you have at least read this week's pick and b) you have some unique insight into the comic. Reviews posted while waiting in line for your pick will be applied to your next pick. I'll be keeping track of everyone's progress with the newly christened Spreadsheet of Fantastic (RIP, Spreadsheet of Doom) and reporting the results in the Current Members list in the weekly OP. When it's your turn to make a pick, I will PM you. If you do not respond to me by Midnight EST the following Sunday, you will lose your pick and I will start a poll to determine that week's selection. Any week in which we do not have a Review Grouper with 5 qualifying picks, we will determine the week's comic via poll. If it's your week to pick, remember to keep it under $3.99. Naturally, this new system is new and it may be necessary to make changes as we go. GHERU has next week's pick. Suggestions welcome. 5 Reviews Posted GHERU 4 Reviews Posted @dace1314 bkthompson guitarsmashley Jude Terror Victorian Squid 3 Reviews Posted Amoebas BlueStreak ElijahSnowFan GiveWarAChance GLX Ntikrst 2 Reviews Posted doombug Eli Katz PhoenixEquinox Sakie Sunless 1 Review Posted Amlah john lewis hawk Jubilee Midas SilverPhoenix Stephen Day |

The issue wasnt really all that bad. For all the people complaining about this series I imagine there are some who are actually liking it. In many ways its kind of bizarre and I can appreciate that. I enjoyed the Thor vs. Apocalypse stuff even though I thought it was a bit strange. I like that Remender is intersecting the two franchises. The art wasn't as insufferable as everyone is making it out to be. Its not flashy even though it tries but Acuña tells a story well enough. I like the way he colors the issue. I don't know how steeped in historical fact the issue was and the Logan ancestor threw me a bit (that dialogue was idiotic). That's kind of my only complaint. That and the awkwardness between Thor and Odin. The scenes in Asgard just felt awkward. I'm also put off by time travel stuff but I'm willing to see this story through. |

If anyone would be willing to share their digital download code, though, I'd be much obliged. I'd hate to miss out on something that might be a worthy successor to Dark Angel, |

I think it’s really cool how the two main villains of Uncanny Avengers seem to be Apocalypse and Kang, not only is this team Avengers and X-Men together, but their main threat is two characters very closely affiliated with each franchise. Daniel Acuna’s art was very strong, I think he suits stories set in the past a lot, and he managed to make Apocalypse’s celestial technology not look out of place. So yeah, an excellent issue, it was a detour from the main storyline, but it was important back-story and hopefully nobody will get annoyed at racial politics this time out. 8/10 |

Byrne-steal it and see for yourself. I liked the art. |

This issue was fucking sick. It took Remender 6 issues to finally hit his stride, but this is the Remender I grew to know and love from Uncanny X-Force and Venom. I can't help but feel that the blatant tie-ins in the Dark Angel Saga are a bit pandering, but when you get batshit crazy, super-creative results like this, who can complain? I found Acuna's art more tolerable than normal too. Remender gave Acuna a lot of crazy visuals this issue (Thor slicing an eyeball man in half with his axe, Thor riding away from an exploding pyramid on a chariot drawn by goats), and Acuna proved more than up-to-the-task. Also, I don't know who colored these issues, but they're really making Acuna's work pop. 9/10 |

It's the original Apocalypse I think. |
