Thor: God Of Thunder #7 (Naked and in a berserker rage Spoil

Postby Punchy » Thu Apr 11, 2013 11:22 am

Things are really kicking into high gear now with Jason Aaron’s first story arc on Thor, and this was another great issue. The thing I liked the most about this is how he used time-travel, but had fun with it. Both present-day Thor and future Thor admit to hating time-travel and of not being sure of how it works, which is clever stuff. I really think with time-travel, writers should just go with it and do what works for their story, not what has been previously established. Time-travel is a fictional conceit, to try and apply rules to it restricts creativity. I also really liked Thor’s comment about this possibly being an alternate future that ‘the X-Men are always going on about’, that was hilarious. The back and forth between present-day and Old Thor was also very entertaining. The stuff with young Thor was good too, and surprisingly saucy for a Marvel Comic, if Saga hadn’t also come out this week, I bet more people would have paid attention to these particularly sexy scenes. Esad Ribic’s artwork was brilliant as usual, his painted style really suits Thor and conveys the epic scale of this story perfectly. Speaking of epic, that Bomb! Holy crap! It was really clever how Aaron hid what Shadrak was God of until now, at first he seemed like an unimportant character, but now… woah. Now that all 3 Thors are in the same timeframe, it’s only a matter of time before shit gets real. I hoping for some serious heavy metal carnage.

I'm liking what Aaron is doing, but, this arc is taking too long imo.

Damn, Gorrdemort is one seriously twisted individual. I love this series but I really hope that Gorr interacts with more of the Marvel Universe in the near future. Also, I hope that we get to see some of the things that old Thor was talking about, like Thor moving to the sun and becoming sort of a police officer to other gods.

When I read that I wasn't sure if it was a Superman joke or not.

No, it needs to be more interesting if it wants to go on this long.

The story needs more meat and less bone.

No he's right, the Gor origin was boring and not much of an origin, it told us why he hates gods but not how he learned to kill them. And while 300000000X better than Age of Shitsnacks it's getting slow.

Yeah, I have to agree with hab and smashley. I love this book but 7 issues in and we are just now getting around to discovering what Gorr's master plan is? We still have 4 more issues of this arc and it seems like we still have a lot of group to cover.

I too have felt at times that the story has dragged on a bit, but overall this is the most I've enjoyed Thor in a really long time.

Yeah lol I'm excited to see it later this year. I'll be even more excited when we see the first trailer for the movie which I am hoping will be attached to Iron Man 3.
