What movie NEEDS a sequel/prequel/remake?

Postby HNutz » Sat Apr 13, 2013 1:15 pm

There's TONS of movies out there with sequels or prequels that water down the original or simply aren't needed. (Most of Lucas' recent work falls in this category to me, along with the Matrix and PotC sequels).

But what movie would you LOVE to see a sequel/prequel for?

OR maybe you'd like to see it relaunched or redone somehow? Because of how bad the second one was, Escape from New York and the poorly made Escape From L.A. come to mind here.

I know that it is already in the works but I would love to see a fourth Jurassic Park movie. That being said, I would make it a direct sequel to the first movie and completely ignore the second and third movies. I would bring Joseph Mazzello back as Tim Murphy who has grown up to take over his grandfather's company InGen. The plot would revolve around the concept that InGen's rival company BioSyn, the company that hired Dennis Nedry in the first movie, has finally succeeded at stealing and duplicating InGen's cloning technology. In order to achieve this, they have secretly set up shop at the remains of the Isla Nublar facility. Unfortunately, as foreshadowed by Ian Malcolm in the first movie, these scientists just stole the work of the InGen scientists without understanding it. Because of this, the new batch of dinosaurs have begun to mutate, evolve, and are slowly beginning to escape the island. Hoping to prevent an even larger catastrophe than the Jurassic Park incident, Tim gathers together a team of specialists (possibly including some of the the original survivors) to return to the island, stop BioSyn, and shut down Jurassic Park once and for all.

I'm with you on this one as the last Jurassic Park movie sucked so badly. However I would have the movie revolve around the Los Cincos Muertes thing which that fisherman mentioned in the second one and have it revealed that there were 3 other islands apart from Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna that had dinosaurs on it.
I would have it that after that event in San Diego, that Ingen was bought out by Biosyn and that they had found out about those 3 islands( Which the third one should have taken place on). It would be revealed that Ingen had used those other islands for genetic experiments for dinosaurs which would explain how the Spinosaurus that showed up in the third one had appeared. Furthermore, I would have Tim, Lex, Ian, Nick, Sarah, Alan, Ellie make an appearance as Biosyn would lose control of the 3 remaining islands and everyone fight for survival.

Ugh, I just want to forget the Spinosaurus as a whole. :smt011

I don't know, I feel that the sequels failed because they attempted to make them too kid friendly. That's why I would like the next movie to be a little bit more smaller scale. Expanding the original operation to even more islands is a step in the wrong direction in my opinion. Imagine how awesome the imagery would be if we go back to an Isla Nublar that has been allowed to grow and basically remain unmolested for over 20 years.

Agree with you on the Spino as that's one of the reasons why Jurassic Park 3 sucked balls apart from the shitty storyline. I mean if they wanted us to actually like the new dino they could have explained how it was created seeing as how it wasn't on Ingen's list or how it got on Isla Sorna seeing as how there was no trace of it in the second film. Plus cheapening the T-Rex to make it look good was one thing I hated. The only way they could explain how it showed up was to reveal it came from another island apart from the two we know about.
The reason why I wouldn't go back to the Isla Nublar thing myself is because I felt that the story on there was already told and also the fact that the dinosaurs there were dead after the survivors left the island as they stated the enzymes that allowed them to live wore out. The only ones that survived without the enzymes were the ones on Isla Sorna or presumably those other islands that were hinted at.

Unbreakable
In some ways I'd love to see a sequel to Big Trouble in Little China but I realistically don't know how it would not suck.

I wouldn't mind a sequel to Unbreakable. I think Shyamalan has actually stated that he always intended to make a sequel but it never got off the ground because of the performance of the first film. A damn shame if you ask me. :smt011
