Well, I went to my LCS to pick up the first volume of Chew and they still had a ton of copies. You guys said it was good and I really enjoyed Remender's Uncanny X-Force, so I gave it a shot. |

Yes, I actually only dropped it this issue because of Acuña. |

From the cover there's some guy who could be Thor posing against some guy twice his size (from the page 1 recap that mentions Kang, I assume it was some new Growing Man variant). Well whomever they are the story is set in exactly 1000 years ago and I quickly find out I'm wrong about who the (now not as gigantic) giant is. It's that lame X-Factor foe who was brought into the other X-Books about the same time as I grew infinitely bored with the whole X-concept and dropped them all from my pull. So, no interest in the villain of the month for me. But Thor, he's okay and I'm hoping he finishes the guy in a page or two (the opposite happens ![]() Some good old Kirby fashion Thor vs Daddy talk takes place (the best part of the book imo) but it gets ruined when who I assume is a Kang in disguise is not detected by Odin (who either knows it's not Loki and therefore is allowing events to happen - or he's just not the all knowing all powerful he supposed to be). Then comes the sheer stupidity in the book. Folkbern Logan who's "the finest there is at what you choose to do" ![]() ![]() The rest of the book is basically Thor's revenge before a single last page with some Kang/Tut/Baron Mordo stuff that finally had me wondering what is Kang up to? Wish I cared during the preceding 18 pages. Acuna's art is the best thing in the book. He's improved a lot on his coloring too (except for Apoca having 'pink' blood ![]() Writing - 2 Art - 8 Overall - 5 |

Sorry, I didn't read last week's comic for the same reason I initially passed on this comic. I find Bianchi's art even less tolerable than Acuña's. Unfortunately for Thanos Rising, I haven't heard anything good about it, so I didn't feel compelled to check it out. ![]() |

This is the first issue of the book I liked, but it didn't involve any of the regular cast except Thor. ![]() I give it 6 out of 10, and if you don't like it, you can drown in hobo piss. |

On the whole, this was the best issue of the book thus far, too bad that's not saying much. The highlight of the book was the art, which didn't depress me as much as Cassady's did for 5 issues, but it still wasn't anything all that special. Story wise, I dig on this arrogant Thor but other than that, its just a paint by numbers Thor story meet bad guy fight bad guy lose swear revenge get reamed by dad get tricked by Loki/someone wash, rinse, repeat A perfectly average book. I've lost any faith I had in this comic book, and most of that is due to Rememder's writing. His callous disregard for fans, character traits / development, and his boring approach to this miss-matched team. 6 issues in, and the book I was most excited for is a directionless mess that is too expensive to keep reading. 5/10 |
